Kepala Batas

Kepala Batas is a famous agricultural village in Seberang Perai Utara, Penang. It is the northernmost major town in Penang Mainland. Kepala Batas is the hometown for 5^th Prime Minister of Malaysia who is Tun Dato’ Sri Haji Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi. Actually, there is another town also named Kepala Batas in Kedah, and it is having an airport to serves the people in Kedah.

To reach Kepala Batas, there are many ways to get there. The main road is Jalan Kubang Menderung. It runs east-west, connecting the Federal Route 1 to the west with the North-South Expressway Northern Route. The other main road in town was named Jalan Datuk Haji Ahmad Badawi. You can easily take bus rapid from Butterworth to Kepala Batas if you wish to visit there.

There one shopping mall in Kepala Batas is Sushine Bertam Shopping Mall. This mall providing various of stores such as department store, clothing store and convenience store. This is very convenient for people in Kepala Batas and satisfy their desire of shopping. Nevertheless, this mall has a cinema named Mega Cineplex. The cinema having 4 halls with 756 seating. There is one symbolic bridge in Kepala Batas which is Merdeka Bridge Kedah. This bridge spans the Sungai Muda, the longest river in Kedah which has its source far away form Tasik Muda close to the border of Thailand. It was built in 1955 and completed in 1957, hence it named Merdeka Bridge.

Penang Golf Resort (PGR) is an 18-hole golf course in Bertam, Kepala Batas. It can be easily seeing from the highway as it occupies a plot of land beside the North-South Expressway. PGR is not only offer golf course, it has event facilities for seminars and conferences. Besides, this resort has a swimming pool, a computer room and gymnasium.

There are few primary and secondary school in Kepala Batas such as Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir and SRJK Cina Pei Yu. And Institut Perubatan & Pergigian Termaju (IPPT), USM is a a research institute focusing on three key components which are clinical services, research activities and postgraduate academic programs.
