If you require the previous agent to assist you to negotiate and draft out an extension letter or a new tenancy agreement then you should pay the agent a fee. There is a provision in our professional practice that licensed agency are allowed to charge 50% of the prescribed rental fee for renewal tenancies. Check out www.lppeh.gov.my Alternatively you may choose to do it yourself without engaging the agents services as it is not compulsory or automatic.
