Where Would These Fictional Characters Choose To Live In Malaysia?
Have you been binge-watching your favourite TV shows at home recently? Or perhaps discovered a new TV series that you think will be the next big thing after Game Of Thrones?
Well, we’re sure that some of you may have wondered where some of your favourite fictional characters from these shows might live, if they were to call Malaysia "home".
Now, assuming that these characters are affected by the global lockdowns, in one way or another, they too could very well be reconsidering where they are currently living
Unlike the rest of us though, not all of these characters are subject to the same travel restrictions (why bother with airport security if you’re Superman, right?). So, if they could relocate somewhere right now, where do you think they would want to be?

Well, WE Think Malaysia Is A Great Choice! Let’s Take A Look Why:

1) Great Weather All Year Round

The most obvious reason would be our year-round tropical climate. Malaysia is also blessed to be shielded from most major natural disasters experienced in neighbouring countries, such as Indonesia and the Philippines.
For some cool, crisp air during the hotter months, there’s Cameron Highlands, Fraser’s Hill, or Genting Highlands, in Peninsular Malaysia. And in Sabah, being close to Mount Kinabalu will allow them to experience a really stunning view, atop the (literally) coolest place in Malaysia!

2) Food, Glorious Food!

Did you really think we’d go without listing this Very Important Point? Food is not only one of Malaysia’s pride and joy, it’s fuel for the body. And to be in peak condition at a moment’s notice, our favourite characters need to load up on those calories, consistently!
Our weather allows us to grow an abundance of resources to create some of the best food all year, to meet those very needs. No problems here!
The best part about Malaysian food is the sheer variety that’s available. It’ll be an adventure in itself for anyone, no matter who, to explore the food scene in this country.
For our favourite characters, it helps kill two birds with one stone: Satisfy their need for adventure, and fulfil their energy requirements after an entire day of being fabulous.

3) Best of Nature

Malaysia is home to some of the best beaches in the world. Not only that, we have beautiful mountain ranges and dense tropical rainforests – literally a wide range of landscapes to choose from when setting up base.
Why are these important? Because we all need some form of relaxation in our lives, especially when it someone’s who’s saving the day, or planning for the next world dominion!

As for the rest of us normal folks, with the WFH culture increasingly taking hold, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Having a place close by to escape to, should be on everyone’s list!

4) Close to Seclusion

If you’re doing important work that could save the human race, you’re going to need a secret hiding place to become your command and control centre to operate out of.
Thankfully, Malaysia is still home to plenty of secluded locations perfect for that agenda, like uninhabited islands and virgin jungles.
We won’t give out any other clues on secluded places, because that would defeat the purpose entirely! All we can say is that PropertyGuru is on hand to help with the search, no matter where you want to locate your new headquarters.

So, Who’s Going To Live Where?

It’s now time to get down to business, and check out our best guesses for where these fictional characters might be comfortable living. Here’s a list of locations to make the hunt for them a lot easier (their autographs could be worth a lot of money, just saying):

1) Groot in Kedah

As the surviving member of a tree-like Alien race, Groot is one of the more special beings to travel across the galaxy with his gang of friends.
This gentle giant has some power-packed abilities, which include the ability to quickly regenerate and grow, or reshape his limbs.
More importantly, he can plant himself in place for extra stability, which works very well to help him blend into his surroundings, such as this Root House in Kampung Huma, Langkawi. A stealthy abode for some peaceful downtime after helping to save the galaxy!

2) Hobbits in Sabah

Have you heard of the Humble Hobbit Home in Kundasang, Sabah? This place pays tribute to J.R.R. Tolkien’s description of The Shire, but it’s not just the design of the home.
The magical landscape will also transport you back into the pages of the book! With a magnificent view of majestic Mount Kinabalu, and sweeping scenes of rolling hills and valleys, we’re certain Frodo and Bilbo Baggins would approve.
in fact, there’s plenty of wide open wilderness that will appeal to the inhabitants of The Shire, who prefer to maintain their privacy and be sheltered from the rest of the world.

3) Gandalf in Sarawak

Known as Mithrandir or ‘Grey Wanderer’ in the Elvish language, you might wonder why Gandalf would fall in love with Sarawak.
As someone with no permanent address or place to call "home", this powerful wizard who’s consumed with wanderlust would certainly not take for granted all the exploration that can be done.
Home to the ancient Niah and Mulu caves, we’re willing to bet Gandalf will be spending the bulk of his time exploring the vast chambers of these caves (no doubt wanting to get rid of all the Orcs!).

4) Harry Potter in Selangor

Harry, Ginny, Ron, and Hermione would obviously prefer living close to each other. Besides the convenience of arranging playdates for their children, living in close proximity of each other means easily gearing up for a round or two of Quidditch.
We hear Malaysia’s very own Quidditch team, the Damansara Dementors, regularly meet up to play around Bandar Utama.
They might just benefit from training with the famous Potter and company, and who knows, they may even go on to win trophies in international competitions and make Malaysia proud!

5) Iron Throne of King’s Landing in Kuala Lumpur

Did you think we’d forget this particular hit TV series that caught the whole world by storm? As Game Of Thrones has wayyy too many characters to speak of, we’ll focus on the main seat of control, the Iron Throne!
As King’s Landing is the main capital and described as "enjoys a warm climate and life there is luxurious for those that can afford it", the residents there will no doubt feel very much at home in Malaysia’s capital city too.
Where else will you be able to find some of the most expensive and opulent hotel suites in the country? Here is where the rich, famous, and powerful are regularly spotted, so don’t be surprised if you see Cersei and Jaime Lannister there!

How about that? A curated list of places for some of our most beloved characters to live, right here in Malaysia. We hope this list inspires you to find or build a home in other parts of our beautiful country, to call "home". Our culture, climate, and cuisine await!
