Sarikei is the capital of the Sarikei Distric, Sarawak in east Malaysia. It hosts an ethnically mixed population of 61,100 people.
Sarikei relies on agricultural produces such pineapples and pepper. It is a walk down memory lane in Sarikei as there are still many old Chinese shop houses intact since the 1930s.
The town is accessible through the Repok Road which leads to the additional expansion in Kampung Seberang. It is also a key transportation center for traffic on both the Pan Borneo Highway and the Rajang River.

Of the usual places to eat in Sarikei, there are two coffee shops in the Nyelong Industrial Estate, serving Kam Pua and Prawn Noodles. Aik Seng coffeeshop also dishes our local hawker fares such as Roti Kahwin, Laksa, Nasi Lemak and a version of Kam Pua noodles. There is an international fast food restaurant KFC and a local fast food franchise called Sugar Bun.
Taman Selera at Kampung Seberang is one of the most popular areas in search for an array of halal food, from Satay to Pizza, with recipes tweaked to please local tastebuds.
Commerce
Bukit Huang Pineapples & Vegetables Plantation at the Rejang Delta region which grows a third of domestic production of vegetable and half of the pineapple production.

Sarikei Hospitalis the main hospital in Sarikei. However, polyclinics are near the hospital and there are clinics who are also available within the town area.
Transport network
There are boats, public buses and taxis available to get around Sarakei. There is a Sarikei Wharf terminal for those who wish to travel via sea, Sarikei Regional bus terminal for those who prefer to travel by land, which will get them to other towns. Taxis are available throughout the town, especially near the bus terminal.
Educational institutions
There are several schools with decades of established history. There are also a number of primary and secondary school. The government recently added on a few more schools in the expansion zone, such as a religious school (SK Agama Sarikei), and a private Chinese school (SM Ming Lik).
Libraries
There is a Sarikei Public Library which covers approximately 2,000 square meters of land open to the public. It is amongst the few attractions of the town as it has a given its distinctive architectural design which makes it stand out from other public buildings in the town.
