Batu Pahat is a district in the state of Johor and the capital of this district is Bandar Penggaram. The name for Batu Pahat which means “chiselled stone” came from the quarries near the estuary. Batu Pahat came into existence in the 1892 and has become one of the largest cities in the southern state. The most populated area would be Simpang Kanan, a town in Batu Pahat. Batu Pahat Vocational College is the only vocational school located in Batu Pahat.
