Pontian is a district in the southwest region of Johor. There are two towns in Pontian district that has the name Pontian called Pontian Besar and Pontian Kechil where Pontian Kechil is the capital of Pontian. Pontian used to be the centre of fishing, pineapple farms and palm oil plantations. It has now developed into an agriculture, fishing, industrial and tourism sector and it focuses on ecotourism, fishery, marine activities and food processing.
