Negeri Sembilan is situated in the western region of Peninsular Malaysia. This state borders Selangor to the north, Pahang to the east, and Melaka and Johor to the south. The capital of Negeri Sembilan is Seremban and its royal capital is Seri Menanti in the district of Kuala Pilah. This state has a coastline along the Straits of Malacca.

The state’s economy is mainly driven by manufacturing activities in electrical and electronics, textiles, furniture, chemicals, machinery, metal works and rubber products. The main industrial areas are Senawang, Sungai Gadut, Tunku Jaafar Industrial Park and Nilai. Then there is the agriculture sector mainly consisting of rubber and oil palm plantations. Tourism is also a major industry in Negeri Sembilan with its famous beaches in Port Dickson.

Commercial properties in this state include factory and industrial lots, office blocks, shop-office units and retail space. Popular residential properties are semi-detached houses, terraced houses, bungalows, apartments and condominiums.

Residents of Negeri Sembilan experience tropical climate throughout the year. Average temperatures during the day range from 27 to 30˚C. Most days of the year are sunny with occasional rain. However, most rainfall is concentrated in the inter-monsoon period between April and October.

The Minangkabau people originally from West Sumatra were the most influential settlers in this state. Hence, some of Negeri Sembilan’s traditional architecture still reflects the Minangkabau influence such as the roof architecture which resembles buffalo horns. The ancient Malay tradition of Adat Perpatih is unique to Negeri Sembilan, where women are given to a higher social status than men. Some of the famous foods of this state are Seremban siew pau, nasi padang, masak lemak chili padi and lemang. Caklempong, dikir rebana, tumbuk kalang and bongai are some of the traditional music. Popular cultural dances include tarian lilin and rentak kuda.
