Alma is a suburb of Bukit Mertajam, Seberang Perai Tengah in Penang Malaysia. Alma is named after a village called Kampung Alma. This suburb is bordered by Jalan Kulim in the north, Jalan Kampung Baru in the northwest, KTM railway line on the west, Permatang Tinggi in the south, Machang Bubok to the east and Ceruk Tok Kun to north. In recent years, the area around Alma has seen tremendous growth, with several large residential estates being established in the area. To accommodate the growing population, several shopping malls were built in the area, including Tesco Bukit Mertajam and AEON Mall Bukit Mertajam.
It is very convenient to travel to and fro from Alma to Bukit Mertajam town as it is a mere minutes’ away drive. Rapid Penang route 709 and a free CAT bus also passes by the area. Alma is situated in a place which balances connectivity thus making it easy for residents to access an abundance of amenities, like malls, mini markets, restaurants, schools, clinics, places of worship and banks. It takes only 30 minutes to get to Penang where residents can access many tourist spots and other facilities, as well as enjoy the beautiful scenery. St Anne’s church which is a popular cathedral in Penang, Maha Mariamman Devasthanam, Masjid Jamek Kampung Alma Bukit Mertajam Pulau Pinang, Kuan Yin Temple Bukit Mertajam and Gurdwara sahib are places of worship located nearby. Those who love partying can spend their nightlife at the clubs enjoying themselves. Among the clubs are Flo Bar & Club, Bulls Bar, PDC BM (Platinium Darts Café, BAZZ Karaoke Bukit Mertajam and H Club.
