Bukit Antarabangsa

Bukit Antarabangsa is a hillside development located in the District of Ulu Klang,  in Selangor.  It is is reputed to be one of the most established and affluent area in Greater Kuala Lumpur  There are many celebrities and notable politicians who have their homes in Bukit Antarabangsa.  Ulu Klang is generally a hilly area and is a water catchment area for Selangor.  There are a number of residential estates here and and the properties are a mixture of bungalows, double storey terrace houses, condominiums and walk up apartments. Due to the hilly terrain and frequent rain in this area, there have been several landslides.  Apparently there is still some slight movement of the earth, however there have been no serious impact to the properties there since the Highland Towers incident in 1993.  Public concern has naturally affected the overtall property prices in the area which have become more affordable and hence more attractive to the middle income population group with many good properties now within their budget.  The area remains popular due to its environment in the midst of nature yet has easy accessibility to many other areas.  Nearby areas are Taman Melawati,  Setiawangsa, Ukay Heights and Titiwangsa.

Nearby suburbs to Bukit Antarabangsa include Setapak Jaya.  Ampang Jaya, and Seksyen 5 Wangsa Maju.  Residents in Bukit Antarabangsa would take Jalan Wangsa 1 to reach the useful Jalan Lingkaran Tengah 2 (MRR2) which circles around Kuala Lumpur. This entry point is very rear to the Duta – Ulu Kelang (DUKE, E33) Highway which allows quick traversal through the middle of the MRR2 towards the west, joining Ampang area in the East, to Jalan Duta in the West. Going further southward on the MRR2 towards the Ampang – Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH / E12), one comes to the Ampang LRT is located, while the other exits at Jalan Ampang are at Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Sultan Ismail.

Families with children would love to play in the many parks and lakes nearby, such as the Bukit Setiawangsa Park, KLCC Park,  the Taman Permainan Kelumpok Cemperling, and the Avenue Park next to the Taman Tasik Ampang Hilir, along its jogging track that covers the circumference of the lake. The ones who like more physical activities would like going through the Keladi Adventure Track, or play with friends at the Ampang Jaya Basketball Court.

Grocery shopping in Bukit Antarabangsa can be done at many independent retailers and grocery shops, such as the Kojarismart, Fahmi Freshmart, Anggur Minimart, and supermarkets chains such as 99 Speedmart, Pasaraya KK, and Giant Supermarket Bukit Antarabangsa. Traditional markets are nearby like the Pasar Besar Dato Keramat, and the Jelatek Night Market, for those household items at a bargain price.

Bukit Antarabangsa has many restaurants in the vicinity, that offer ethnic and local dishes. There’s the Shellout Bukit Antarabangsa, Asian Cuisine Kitchen, Nasi Kandar Meed Bistro, and Nasrah Tomyam  The usual fast food chains of Mc Donald’s, KFC, and Pizza Hut cater for the youngsters. For more budget conscious, there’s the Khora Business Park Bukit Antarabangsa, Hangout Contena and Restoran Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng RM1. There are many restaurants and shops that cater for Malays, Chinese, and Indians, and about a dozen cafes nearby, such as Dr Azimuth Healthy Cafe, Coconut Express Café, and Restoran Craven Café. For more choices, there are malls nearby such as AEON Mall AU2 Setiawangsa, Ampang Point, and Great Eastern Mall.

Kindergartens in the Bukit Antarabangsa area can be found at  Tadika Taska Hasanah Kids Ampang Hulu Kelang, The Children’s House Ampang Hilir, and Kool Kidz KLCC. Schools nearby include SK Kuala Ampang, SMK Dato Ahmad Razali, Saudi Arabian Primary and Secondary School, Brighton International School, Sri Utama Schools,the International School of Kuala Lumpur, and Sayfol International School.  Universities include the Geomatika University College, UTM Kuala Lumpur, Open Universiti Malaysia (OUM) Taman Sri Rampai, and the Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK).
