Kuala Kubu Bharu or also known as Kuala Kubu Baru started in 1925 after the relocation of the original town of Kuala Kubu, due to flood damage in 1883. The initial inhabitants in the 1850s due to the discovery and mining of tin ore, and this influx made Kuala Kubu the second biggest town in Selangor. The new town of Kuala Kubu Bharu was designed to be aesthetically functional by a British town planner, making KKB arguably the first garden city designed in Asia. Kuala Kubu Bharu is now the district capital of Hulu Selangor, and its neighbouring towns include Batang Kali, Serendah. Rasa is the area south of Kuala Kubu Bharu, while Kerling lies in the north-west, while Gumut lies in the north-east.
Kuala Kubu Bharu is served by two major highways. Federal Route 1 comes through Rawang, Rasa, and Serendah in the south, then continues northward. Federal Route 55 from the north-east ends at Raub, Pahang. Federal Route 55 can be used to access Highway E8 in order to reach the state of Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan. In order for residents of Kuala Kubu Bharu to access the North-South Expressway (AH2), they must go through Tanjung Malim toll via Federal Route 1. There is a KTM Komuter train station at Kuala Kubu Bharu, and a bus terminal as well.

There is a specialty Hainanese home-styled cooking called Sun Sun Seng Nam, where patrons can enjoy Hainanese food in the Old Malaya décor that maintains the authentic ambience of colonial days gone by.
