Kuala Muda is a district located in Kedah. Sungai Petani is the district’s administrative center. Kuala Muda borders Kedah and Penang. Besides Sungai Petani, other major towns within Kuala Muda district include Gurun, Merbok, Kota Kuala Muda,Tanjung Dawai, Semeling,Sidam, Bukit Selambau, Bedong, Sungai Lalang, Padang Tembusu and Tikam Batu. Kuala Muda is the second largest and most populous district in the state. It is also the historical site of the country’s earliest civilization.
Kuala Muda is easily accessible via the North-South Expressway. It can be reached by express buses, taxis and rail. Getting around Kuala Muda is easy and can be done by driving, car rental, the local bus line and taxis.
The district is known for rice cultivation, in fact, the entire state is known for rice cultivation therefore it is not surprising that the district is surrounded by vast paddy fields. Aside from that, Kuala Muda has a lot of natural attraction, amongst those frequently visited by the locals are Taman Jubli Perak, Darulaman Perdana Lake, Pantai Merdeka, Gunung Jerai, Bukit Banyan Recreational Park and Tupah Recreational Forest. Meanwhile, historical sites such as a Kota Kuala Muda and Lemah Bujang Archeological Musuem are equally popular amongst local and tourists.
