Yong Peng

Yong Peng is an area of 1911.6 square kilometers, that lies within the mukim Tanjung Semberong, in the district of Batu Pahat, in the state of Johor. During the 1870s, there was an influx of workers from China who came from Mainland China to find work in the spices industry such as with pepper and gambir, and eventually rubber and tin mining industries near to the Sungai Bekok. The name Yong Peng came from the Chinese meaning of Everlasting Peace. In current times, the rise of food industries and textiles industry which is what Yong Peng is known for. Nearby towns are Ayer Hitam, Batu Pahat, and Kluang.

Yong Peng is a town that is served by Federal Route 1, which to the north leads to Labis (with a branch road to Muar), Tenang and unto Segamat town.  The same Federal Route 1  winds its way down south via the Batu Pahat – Kluang – Jemaluang highway (Highway 50) leads to Ayer Hitam, and eventually into Kluang and Mersing town on the East Coast. With Federal Route 24, residents at Yong Peng can access Muar, Parit Sulong, and Batu Pahat. Yong Peng is also the gateway to the North – South Expressway which gives fast and convenient access to Kuala Lumpur,, to the southern tip of Malaysia into Singapore. If one would take the Plaza Toll Yong Peng and head north, they would reach the next state of Melaka.
