Yong Peng is an area of 1911.6 square kilometers, that lies within the mukim Tanjung Semberong, in the district of Batu Pahat, in the state of Johor. During the 1870s, there was an influx of workers from China who came from Mainland China to find work in the spices industry such as with pepper and gambir, and eventually rubber and tin mining industries near to the Sungai Bekok.
