Meru

A relatively new township in Ipoh, Perak, Meru or Bandar Meru Raya is adjacent to Jelapang and Chemor. Meru is home to over 10 government buildings including the National Audit Department and the National Archives of Malaysia and is it an area that is expanding due to the demand in housing in this area. Fast food outlets such as Kentucky Fried Chicken, Domino’s Pizza and McDonald’s also have their outlets here at Meru. There are also many food and beverage outlets as well as retail outlets located at Mydin Meru Raya, where groceries and basic food and necessities can be bought. Besides this, mini markets and grocery stores are also available and one can easily pop in to one of these to get whatever they need. The closest shopping mall would be AEON Kinta City Shopping Mall about a 15 minutes’ drive and Ipoh Parade a 20 minutes’ drive both, via the North South Expressway. Other amenities that are located at Meru include clinics and pharmacies, places of worship, banks and ATMs. Besides this, the ‘Bulatan Meru Raya’ is a huge roundabout with playground equipment where families gather in the evenings to exercise. Food trucks will park here in the evenings and regular events are held at this roundabout.
