Recently opened, Lushbowl serves a selection of sweet and savoury bowls packed with a blend of secret ingredients and an array of tropical fruits. Their main objective is to maintain simplicity and freshness in every meal they create, with an added strong flavour that tastes good enough for a healthy meal. The tiny restaurant portrays a contemporary look. Imagine grey polished cement, organic wood finishes, and modern rattan chairs to blend in with the vibe.

For main meals, there is a process of creating your own meal. First, select a base of salad, sticky sushi rice or cauliflower rice. Then you top it all off with a choice of fresh salmon sashimi drenched in shoyu, or a generously coated togarashi mayo with a some hot sriracha. Other meals include their rainbow smoothie bowl consisting of seven fruits. As for drinks, try out their organic cold-pressed juices which are freshly made every two hours. This chic café at the centre of Sri Hartamas is a place that focusses solely on creating artisan cakes, cupcakes, cookies and other forms of desserts. The shop itself is easily spotted as the exteriors combine wooden elements with ceiling to floor windows. Fitted with bright and creative interiors, Nooks by Baker Dave is an ideal place to hang out and relax. The specialty in this café is the Nooks Duo, which are two petite buns that come in two flavours (tuna mayo and scrambled eggs). Aside from that, there is the Nook Breakfast which is a wholesome platter consisting of chicken sausage, butter and jam, and egg roll with turkey ham.

Located in Faber Towers, Breadfruits is a landmark when it comes to amazing breakfast meals. With the presence of all these eateries and a premium supermarket on site, this café also hosts as a casual dining spot that can get easily crowded due to its eye-catching interiors and mouthwatering foods. As for a delightful breakfast meal, try out their Spanish Pork Belly & Pumpkin Breakfast plate or the bacon guacamole egg on toast. For egg lovers, you might be interested in the Smoked Salmon Breakfast Platter. Compliment your breakfast with a cup of their in-house coffee and cakes such as the flat white with a slice of chocolate cake. In other words, head down to Breadfruits for a delightful breakfast!

When it comes to having big breakfasts, Tray Café takes a massive initiative in creating big breakfasts for their patrons. Whats bigger than a buttery croissant? A big buttery croissant bursting with soft-boiled eggs, mayonnaise and chives. Other than that, take a bite of their omelette stuffed with cheese and mushroom, or some pancakes with apples and cinnamon – a delightfully sweet contraption. If you are a fan of coffee, try out their aromatic coffee finely made with Indonesia’s Merdeka Roasters Arabica or perhaps try out the hot herbal tea.

This vegan restaurant is a hotspot for flavours from Mexico. Interior-wise, the café is very bright and open with high ceilings and white walls. Take a bite of Sala’s tacos topped with BBQ jackfruit, purple cabbage, chopped cucumbers, Pico de Galio and cilantro, or a house cooked chilli that’s rich with sweet potato, beans, lentils, tomatoes, vegan nacho cheese and crackers. Whatever you decide to eat, Sala is definitely a place to eat at if you want some fancy instagrammable food photos!

Taking stage as a great place to have a delightful brunch, Backofen has always maintained being the top of their class among similar cafés. Hence maybe the reason why patrons are lured back in with their dose of “back often”. The restaurant is decorated in a black and red theme with cool downlights to set the mood. Start off your brunch with a choice of homemade pastries and cakes freshly baked daily. Backofen also has your average Big Breakfast up for grabs, so you better have an empty stomach before you head to Backofen!

For Goodness Cakes is a quality bakery ran by six Malaysian mothers who joined forces in creating this beautiful café in Hartamas. For Goodness Cakes is the definition of ‘moms truly do know best,’ especially when it comes to whipping up good food. As you step in you will be welcomed by at least one of the six friendly ‘mak ciks’ who will happily take care of your order, as each one carries a different role. Plus, the café is family-friendly with a kids corner for toddlers to play at, while parents enjoy their meals.

Getting down to what they are popular for, order their best selling hearty egg mayo sandwich or their home made banana bread, and pair it with some of their freshly-brewed-to-order coffee. If you are here for dessert, try out their savoury pavlova drizzled with cream and fresh berries. They also serve butter cakes, lemon lamingtons, bread-and-butter pudding and crème brulee. If you’re a big fan of pet-friendly café’s or love pets, come over to Cubs and Cups where you can savour stylish food with your pet (as long as you clean up after them!). Grab a cup of their tasty coffee, tea or beer that’s all available at the counter side. As for the food, there is an extensive range of familiar sounding dishes; but each coming with their own unique touch. Dishes like french toast, caesar salads, pepperoni pizzas, pesto pasta and fish and chips can be found here. Also, don’t forget to try out their brunch menu including their signature brunch chicken baguette with a side of salads.

When it comes to creating unique dishes, Naked restaurant comes to mind as a statement in creating state-of-the-art dishes and cocktails. The name ‘Naked’ itself comes from the fact that they want patrons to experience a whole new level of self-satisfaction by creating food with passionate souls.

Divided into two sections, this hyped restaurant has a bar which serves vibrant cocktails made by a world renowned mixologist, Joshua Ivanokic. On the first floor you will be greeted with a warm and cozy ambience, allowing patrons to chill out and enjoy their meal. The executive chef stands out to create contemporary western cuisines all the way.
Try out their signature Naked House Cod Fish, a pan seared cod fillet with herb butter, and garnished with fresh shaved fennel. As for desserts, sink your teeth in the French Lust, a silky smooth brûlée with vanilla custard and chocolatey bits. Take some time off your day and head down to the Naked restaurant to indulge in their many unique dishes!

Blue Cow Café

Brought all the way from Australia nearly 10 years ago, you can dine at the Blue Cow Café and eat freshly cut beef imported from Australia itself. Sausages and meat patties are freshly made in-house, assuring that only the best quality meats are used and butchered in the most authentic way. A good way to start off your meal here is with a bowl of their home made soup. Try out their signature Rich Pumpkin soup, superb in terms of flavour with a hint of spice. As for heavy eaters, try out their large platter constructed with a pile of sausages, kebabs, rump steak, pork steak, lamb chop, burger patty, bacon and corn cob, coleslaw and fresh salads for sides. As for drinks try out their ‘Blue Sky Martini’, ‘Big Rapids Uptown’ and many other fancy cocktails they have to offer!

Co-owned by two sisters, Mei by Fat Spoon is a contemporary Japanese joint in Desa Sri Hartamas. The restaurant has a clean and bright interior with a cheerful vibe, coupled with stylish furnitures to compliment its beautiful surroundings. Some call it a classic kopitiam with cutting edge modern interiors.

Try out their best selling chopped scallops with lychee or fried oysters with kaffir lime mayo. Rice bowls are also one of Mei’s signature comfort foods. You can’t go wrong with a perfect portion of rice with seared sliced ox tongue, cili padi, and garlic chips to top it all off. Take a Japanese food adventure with their onigiri laced with unagi and shisho. Finish off your meal with a plate of their special matcha cream puff or the matcha crème brûlée. Well known to be one of KL’s most ambitious burger hotspots, Bun Burger Bar creates some of the tastiest burgers available in the market. Patties used are all made using free-range, grass-fed Australia beef, freshly made daily. Besides having the luxury of choosing choosing the way your patty is cooked, (rare to well done meat), the burger itself is presented with toppings that includes fish sauce, sambal mayo, coriander, carrots, radish, and cucumber. Other than just burgers, try out their attractive tapas that includes a serving of ox tongue or the tiger prawns with garlic, chilli, and lime. Naughty Babe Dirty Duck

If you are a meat lover, then Naughty Babe Dirty Duck is the place to be as it has proven its perfection in creating hearty meat dishes since it first opened. Inspired by European and Mediterranean food culture, this restaurant manages to create a modern and photogenic twist towards traditional dishes. First impressions inside are stunning dark interiors, presenting a classy vibe.

Start off your dinner with a smoky octopus imported all the way from Spain, served in a vaporous contraption. Then continue with their European inspired sampling platter consisting of dry-cured ham, chorizo sausages, and other luscious cold cuts that are fit for sharing. As for desserts, indulge your sweet tooth in their popular Magnum Explosion, a cold and hot mouth watering creation of ice cream dipped in molten chocolate. Steaks and Lobsters

As the name states, it’s no surprise that this restaurant specialises in succulent steaks and lobsters. If the menu is not enticing enough for the diner, they can choose to select their own cuts at the in-house meat store! Choose your own cut and tell the waiter how you would like for it to be cooked. This restaurant gets its supply all the way from Australia, grass-fed to grain-fed.

The extensive range of steak dish selection means you also have the choice of choose from wet-aged to dry-aged steaks. Lobsters are obviously the restaurants pride alongside the steaks. Feast on a platter of charbroiled lobster flamed with home made aioli. And if you like your lobster steamed, you could also order one with spiced butter sauce. Steaks and Lobsters definitely is a jaw-dropper for meat lovers.

Toridoki

The word “skewer” always brings to mind the typical roadside satay. But at Toridoki, they have implemented the use of skewers to create fascinating dishes with aromatic flavours. With a Japanese themed setting, this restaurant has a never ending parade of Japanese influences throughout the restaurant. As for the foods, take a bite of some of their signature skewers including the chicken thigh and breast wrapped in skin, ‘saseri’ neck meat, chicken leek combos, or the liver, gizzard, and heart skewers. Other than skewers, Toridoki serves the classic chicken and egg okaya don, and the chicken ramen. Wine is also available; but if you prefer a more Japanese route, try out their shochu.

Vantador

Boasting to be one of KL’s most artsy steakhouses, the all new Vantador is a tavern for carnivores as you will get to indulge in a gastronomic adventure as the Argentinian head chef cooks up a storm. Vantador sets high standards, with an interior decorated with polished concrete walls, solid wood tables, and an array of unique art masterpieces hung from the walls and ceiling. Their star-of-the-show is the aged dry beef that sits in a German-constructed cooler for at least 40 days, and is then grilled to perfection. Other meat options include the Tomahawk, T-bone, and ribeye. End your meal with a taste of their in-house desserts including the unique sous vide Granny Smith apple with olive oil sponge and ginger custard, or the Crema Catalana with mandarin tips.

Dons Warong

When it comes to indulging in local favourites, Don’s Warong does it best! Alongside the local dishes is their signature bestselling Mee Rebus Johor, Nasi Lemak Kukus Johor and Laksa Johor. Strategically located in the centre of Hartamas, Dons Warong is the perfect ‘lepak’ spot to dine with friends and family. The specialty here is their nasi lemak. Dons Warong serves their nasi lemak with a chicken that is perfectly marinated with herbs and spices, accompanied by aromatic rice.

Besides just serving local cuisine, Dons Warong also serves burgers, and chicken chops to satiate western cravings. Lastly for dessert, try out the sweet and tasty ‘Ice Creamery’ which is a classic waffle topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with loads of chocolate sauce. Take some time to dine on scrumptious local food at Dons Warong!
