Sri Petaling is a suburb located in the south of Kuala Lumpur within the constituency of Seputeh. Sri Petaling is bordered by other towns such as Kuchai Lama, Happy Garden and Bukit Jalil. Sri Petaling was launched in 1977 first before being developed in 1981. The town was previously a rubber plantation estate before being transformed into a playground and car park area for the 1998 Commonwealth Games.

The population of Sri Petaling grew when two routes of access were opened to neighbouring suburbs which were Salak Selatan and Happy Garden. Soon enough other road routes were developed and major highways such as Kuala Lumpur – Seremban Expressway, Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS), New Pantai Expressway (NPE), Middle Ring Road 2 (MMR2) and Maju Expressway (MEX) were easily accessible from Sri Petaling.

Sri Petaling is a suburb that is surrounded by a variety of parks that one can easily access. From enjoying a stroll in the park or a nice long jog, one can do so in parks such as Sri Petaling Parks and Garden. Bukit Jalil Recreational Park can also be one of the destinations residents can enjoy as it is a low-key, 80-acre park with jogging trails, picnic spots, playground areas and an international garden. It is a great spot for families to come together to relax and enjoy nature.

When living in Sri Petaling, one can enjoy all the delicious delicacies that Malaysian cuisine has to offer. The food choices ranges from halal to non-halal so there is something for everyone to enjoy.   There are a number of must eat dishes when you are in Sri Petaling such as the curry laksa, Hong Kong Style Chee Cheong Fun, Pandan chicken and Mendy Rice with Mendy Lamb. Sri Petaling is a simple and beautiful suburb that is ideal for families that prefer to stay away from the bustling city life. One can still find entertainment spots to enjoy during their free time. Sri Petaling has a large shopping complex that was once owned by Carrefour but was taken over by AEON Big where one can enjoy doing their shopping. Sri Petaling does not lack medical attention either as there are hospitals in the surrounding area such as IMU Medical Centre, Yan Specialist Women’s Clinic and Assunta Hospital PJ among many others.

What was once a rubber plantation has now developed to being a popular suburb due to the development of commercial hubs in the area. Schools have started to develop when families begun to move and reside in Sri Petaling.  Parents can choose from the plethora of schools available in the area and among those, Sri Emas International School, Kingsgate International School and Alice Smith School – Primary Campus can be one of the many options for international schools. As for public schools, families can opt for schools such as SMK Seri Saujana, SMK Bandar Baru Seri Petaling and SJK (C) La Salle.
