Findings from the Consumer Sentiment Study show that the COVID-19 pandemic has created opportunities and hardships for many Malaysians who are looking to purchase a home. While the desire to own a home in the future remains strong among Malaysians, others continue to face challenges in their home ownership with hopes of more government and developer efforts to make housing affordable.

In a nutshell, the pandemic’s effect on the way Malaysians view home ownership is more prominent now. Insights gathered from the Consumer Sentiment Study show confidence in the property market for long-term capital appreciation, increasing desire for home ownership and the importance of owning a conducive living space. However, the inability to find and own a property within their budget remains a challenge that needs to be addressed to help spur the property market.
