Menglembu is a major town in Ipoh, Perak. Menglembu is probably most famous for groundnuts as the famous Ngan Yin Groundnuts are processed and packed here. Groundnuts are so famous here that a structure in the shape of groundnuts has been set up in a roundabout here and has since been one of Menglembu’s landmarks. In the past, Menglembu was settled by Chinese of the Hakka Dialect Group from South China who worked in the tin mines. There were so many Hakkas in the area that time that even many of the non-Chinese people spoke Hakka.
