Public housing flats will get a makeover under the Housing and Local Government Ministry’s National Blue Ocean Strategy 7: My Beautiful Neighbourhood project, reported The Sun Daily.

According to Minister Datuk Seri Chor Chee, the initiative aims to maximise results while minimising cost. To-date, seven public housing flats in Johor Baharu and Alor Setar, Ipoh have been revamped.

“Here, we have chosen the Lobak flats as the pioneer. The flats have been given a facelift and now turned into a beautiful neighbourhood that the residents can be proud of,” he told the media after handing-over the completed project at Lobak flats.

The facelift includes repair and upgrade works for roads, drainage system and community halls. At a cost of RM4 million, it also involved landscape beautification and was completed in just three months.

In 2013, the project will also be implemented on 18 other public housing flats across Malaysia.
