Ivorycares, a charitable arm of Ivory Properties Group Berhad, and Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad jointly organised a blood donation campaign which will be held on 26 April at Penang Times Square 1st floor concourse.
Themed “A drop of blood forms an ocean of love”, the event is supported by Penang Hospital and is aimed at overcoming the blood supply shortage faced by the hospital especially during festive periods.
Apart from the blood donation, the event will also feature a health talk and health exhibition on Chinese medicine in order to create health awareness as well as foster healthy lifestyle among the public. Light refreshments will also be served.
According to Ivorycares president Datuk Ooi Chin Loo, the annual goodwill initiative had been steadily receiving overwhelming response from the public since it was first launched in 2006. He noted that the same feedback is expected this year.
“This year, the first 150 donors will receive a RM50 worth of goody bag as a token of appreciation,” he said.
“The Penang Hospital blood bank usually encounters a shortage of supply during the festive season, therefore we want to help alleviate the situation the best we can through this campaign.”
Meanwhile, Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad Penang Branch Manager, Collin Peter Pereira noted that donating blood is something we can do to help save the life of a person irrespective of one’s ethnic background and culture.
“We at Allianz will continue to support and encourage any community related initiatives such as this as we truly value the importance of contributing to the community,” said Collin.
Sponsors for the event are EE-LIAN Enterprise (M) Sdn Bhd, Gold Leaf Manufacturing Sdn Bhd and Cap Keluarga.
