SP Setia Foundation pledge to nurture a caring society

SP Setia Foundation has launched its Setia Caring School Programme in its bid to nurture a morally grounded, more emphatic and caring society among young school children.

The foundation adopted the Setia Caring School Programme in 2015 in line with one of the key objectives in its Trust Deed, which is to “assist in the advancement of the education of disadvantaged pupils in Malaysia.

Under the programme, the foundation adopts underperformed schools with the intention to inspire the students, nurture them with care and attention in order to ensure that they grow up surrounded by good influencers and role models – caring parents, peers, teachers and to a larger extent, environment.

“We truly believe that whilst making quality education accessible to all children, it is also our responsibility to nurture our children to enable them to grow up rooted in good moral values, being empathic and having understanding especially to those who are different from themselves and learning to grow up in harmony and peacefully in a multi-cultural society,” said SP Setia Foundation chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Wan Mohd Zahid Bin Mohd Noordin.

YB Datuk Mary Yap Kain Cheng, JP, Deputy Education Minister, who is also Patron of the Setia Caring School Programme, officiated the launch event and spent the morning in the company of students from the Setia Caring School Programme’s adopted schools – SJK (C) Lee Min, SJK (T) Ladang Vallambrosa and SK Meru Jalan Tap.

“Through this programme, I hope we can inspire more organisations to continue to contribute to activities that not only elevate the education level in our country but foster closer bond among our rakyat and together, we will build a stronger nation,” said YB Datuk Mary Yap, JP.

The caring school project was introduced in 1995 across the nation, predicated on the principle idea of “We Care”, in which schools in Malaysia were urged to promote the idea of caring from their own perspective.

The project was warmly received by parents and community, and SP Setia Foundation pledged to resurrect and champion the project by adding a new dimension to it.

“We also pledge to focus our tender, loving care attention towards these students, trying our best to understand them, help them, nurture them, listen to them and making sure that they feel loved and cared for, so that they trust us enough to open up to us and work with us to create a better future for themselves,” stated Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Wan Mohd Zahid.
