Daiwa House Malaysia Sdn Bhd has teamed up with Sunway Iskandar Sdn Bhd (SISB) to develop 100 units of pre-fabricated landed homes in Sunway Iskandar.
Daiwa House Malaysia is a subsidiary of Japan’s largest pre-fabricated homebuilder Daiwa House Industry Co Ltd, while Sunway Iskandar is Sunway Bhd’s unit.
With a gross development value (GDV) of RM210 million, this partnership will lead both firms to set up a joint venture (JV) company, Daiwa Sunway Development.
In a statement recently, Sunway Group said SISB will transfer the lease of 5.3 hectares to the JV company, which will be 70 per cent owned by Daiwa House Malaysia and the rest SISB and a financial consideration of RM63 million for the project.
Sunway Property managing director, Sarena Cheah, said this strategic collaboration was in line with Sunway’s vision to integrate world-class liveability in Sunway Iskandar.
“With Daiwa House’s world-recognised expertise, we hope to expand prefabricated housing technologies in Malaysia,” Cheah said.
Meanwhile, managing director of Daiwa House Malaysia, Daisuke Usugi, said the homes would incorporate cutting-edge design features.
“They will tap into Daiwa’s experience in Japan and research and development strengths such as child-friendly door designs, home energy management systems, game-changing lifestyles for the communities of Sunway Iskandar,” he said.
Prefabricated housing is the manufacturing of houses or housing components offsite in a factory before installation onsite.
It enables faster construction and delivery to customers with higher consistent product quality.
The JV project, comprising bungalows, semi-detached and cluster homes, is expected to be launched in early 2016, targeting buyers in Malaysia, Singapore and Japan.
