The Emkay Group, as its wish for the 2017 Budget, urged the Selangor government to release more idle land for developers to build affordable homes.
“We’ve been in this business for more than three decades. Back in 1995, we partnered the Selangor government to develop Damansara Damai and we built 15,000 units of affordable houses,” said its founder Tan Sri Mustapha Kamal at a briefing on the completion of Mercu Mustapha Kamal.
“We want to build more affordable houses. We want to replicate the success of Damansara Damai,” he said.
“I have been blessed by God. The least I could do is to give back to the society.”
Under the Selangor government affordable housing scheme of Rumah Selangorku, the company is managing various projects for Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd in Cyberjaya.
It develops 900-sq-ft apartments with three and two bathrooms and priced from RM380,000 each.
“By providing affordable houses, we hope more young people would be able to own a house and work in Cyberjaya,” he said.
Located next to Putrajaya, Cyberjaya is now home to over 35 multinational corporations, while its population is expected to double to 100,000 by 2020.
Meanwhile, Datuk Fazwinna Mustapha Kamal, executive director of Emkay Group, revealed that Mercu Mustapha Kamal received tenancy enquiries from multinational companies and government entities.
Mercu Mustapha Kamal features two Grade A office towers that are certified with a Green Building Index Gold rating as well as a Multimedia Super Corridor-status.
Strategically located, the buildings are accessible via the Sprint Highway, Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong and North Klang Valley Expressway.
Mustapa named the 21-storey tower after his grandson, Khaleeq, and the 32-storey block after his son, Khalif, who also serves as Emkay Group’s chief executive officer.
