My story begin 5 years ago when I saw an advertisement in the newspaper for a low-cost house named Flat Sri Rebana. The apartment was priced at RM42,000.
Due to the attractive banner, we headed to Sime Darby Bukit Raja to join the house balloting, where we managed to acquire an end-corner unit on the 4th floor.
The biggest mistake we made was not visiting the actual unit which was just located merely 500 meters away from the sales gallery. We were too excited at that time, where we missed the important part of the home purchase.
Moving forward, we received the key for the house and our nightmare began. The house only looked decent on the outside, but was totally different inside.
There were broken doors, missing windows, blocked pipes and missing electric boxes, just to name a few. To add on to this nightmare, our neighbour was making our life miserable as well.
My monthly repayment was not that much, it was only about RM264. However, it was still a commitment. I wanted to sell off the house, but it has a certain lock-in period which prevented me from selling it.
I regret to-date of not viewing the actual unit before acquiring the house. Please do not blindly buy a house just by looking at the developer. They’re business minded and it’s up to us to make a wise decision. Always check the development site and the neighbourhood.
