By The Sea is a low-density development, located on the famed Batu Ferringhi beach. Comprising of three low-rise blocks, By The Sea has 138 luxury suites and its expansive 50m infinity pool and deck has unobstructed views of the sea while the green hills serve as a verdant backdrop.

The next award was for the Environmental (Rehabilitation/Restoration) award, received is for the Sungai Satu river rehabilitation project.

Sungai Satu is a river flows right through By The Sea development and has been rehabilitated by the cleaning and purification of the river channel using bio-engineering methods using wetland vegetation. The carefully selected plants not only beautify the riverbank – it absorbs the nitrates and cleans the water which is then pumped back into the river.

“Sungai Satu had been polluted for years. We could have just covered the river, but instead we decided to rehabilitate it using German bio-engineering technology, the first of its kind in Malaysia.”

“We spent RM2 million rehabilitating the 200m stretch that leads into the sea and we feel it was well spent. It not only improves the environment and beautifies the area for everyone to enjoy, the system is sustainable in the long run,” Ms. Teh Lip Kim, Selangor Dredging Bhd (SDB) Group’s Managing Director.
