To help ordinary Malaysians acquire homes within their budget, the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has unveiled the “Rumah Selangorku Idaman PKNS Antara Gapi” low-cost housing project.
According to PKNS Public Relations Manager Ishak Hashim, the development features 80 two-storey terrace houses costing between RM250,000 and RM293,500. Targeted to be finished by December 2017, it offers houses measuring 20 by 60 sq ft.
“The house has a modern touch, and in terms of location, it is very strategic as it is quite near to the PLUS highway as well as the Serendah Komuter Station,” said Ishak, adding that the project is part of state government’s efforts to build spacious homes at reasonable prices.
Moreover, he is urging qualified individuals and families to take advantage of this affordable housing project, whereby the applicants will be evaluated by the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS).
To be eligible for these houses, the buyer’s combined household income should not exceed RM8,000 per month, he or she should not have any other residential property in the state, and the house cannot be rented out to others.
One of the successful buyers is Lai Foo Fat. The 33-year-old UPSI language translator said he is overjoyed that his application has been given the green light.
According to Lai, a first-time home buyer, he applied via the LPHS website in 2015. Subsequently, he got a letter in August 2016, informing him that he is among the lucky applicants.
Previously, he had also tried other government housing schemes, like the 1Malaysia Civil Servants Homes (PPA1M) and 1Malaysia People’s Housing Programme (PR1MA), but unfortunately he was not chosen.
