PR1MA aims to begin construction on 10,000 Penang homes by the end of the year.
The 1Malaysia Housing Project Corporation (PR1MA) plans to start building 10,000 homes in Penang by end-2016, reported Bernama.
“We hope to start construction on 10,000 units by the end of this year, provided the state government fast-tracks our applications for planning approval on our projects,” said CEO Datuk Aminuddin A. Manaf.
He shared that they are still working to submit the necessary documents to the authorities for the construction of a total of 19,556 PR1MA houses across the state.
Specifically, PR1MA intends to build 1,017 units in Permatang Pauh, 1,124 units at Bukit Gelugor, 1,520 units in Batu Ferringhi, 2,387 units at Tasek Gelugor (2,387), 3,944 units in Teluk Kumbar and 9,564 units in Sungai Pinang, Balik Pulau.
“I believe the Bukit Gelugor and Teluk Kumbar projects will begin construction this year, subject to approval from the authorities, and sales are expected to begin in line with the construction work,” Aminuddin noted.
Moreover, he hopes that the state government will greenlight all PR1MA projects there, as Penang has the largest demand for affordable homes, with 88,000 people applying for this type of housing.
About 84 percent of the PR1MA units to be built in the state will cost below RM300,000, 14 percent will be priced between RM300,000 and RM350,000, and only two percent will be priced at RM400,000.
