IJM Land Designer Award 2016 finalists to present their designs to the public

Only a few more weeks left for the much-awaited Penduline showrooms furnished by the two finalists of the IJM Land Designer Award 2016 to open its doors to the public. This is taken as the perfect opportunity for IJM LAND to invite the public to the Happy Family Day at The Arc, Bandar Rimbayu, a family friendly event to entertain both young and old.

Under the theme “Reliving Nostalgic Memories”, IJM LAND challenged young interior designers to submit their concepts for the furnishing of the Penduline homes in Bandar Rimbayu. More than 100 contestants took on the challenge and tried to convince the 7-person jury of their vision.

14 contestants were shortlisted for round 2 and these contestants presented their designs based on different floor plans of the showrooms. In the end, Goh Sow Yee and Leo Wong Kwan Theng left their competitors behind and now are the finalists of iLDA 2016.

Their diverse approaches to the award’s theme and their detailed implementation of their ideas into an interior design concept were the decisive points behind the judges’ decision: “What really made the difference was that they were able to look at the whole picture of the interior design and conveyed a message with their ideas”, says Fendarie Su, Chief Judge and Director of Santa Fe Interior Architecture, about the two contestants.

For their final task both finalists now have to transform their concepts into tangible reality and fully furnish the showrooms in Bandar Rimbayu, being given an allocated budget of RM150,000 each, provided by Platinum Sponsors Signature Kitchen Sdn Bhd and Urban Culture by Fella Group as well as Gold Sponsors Philips Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Jotun Paints (M) Sdn Bhd and Inovar Resources Sdn Bhd.

To celebrate the finalisation of the showrooms and this important milestone for both IJM LAND and the contestants, the Happy Family Day at Bandar Rimbayu will offer a wide range of fun activities to entertain both children and adults. Visitors aged 18 and above will be able to vote for their favourite interior design directly on site and help determine the winner of IJM Land Designer Award 2016.

Other all-day activities available at the Happy Family Day will include a 5D cinema that turns the magic of short movies into a living reality by making use of 6 motion hydraulic chairs. The immersive experience does not just appeal to your audio and visionary senses like a regular cinema would do, it fully incorporates all your senses by including special effects like vibration, fog, bubbles, thunderstorms, snow or rain, all depending on the film’s storyline, and offers a unique and exciting adventure to both children and adults.

Besides that, a balloon clown will entertain the youngest attendees, and of course, the much-loved zorb ball will make its triumphant return on land and on water. If you want to take things a little bit slower, stroll up and down the flea market or indulge in a neck & shoulders or foot massage performed by blind masseurs whose hands can work real wonders.

Come to The Arc @ Bandar Rimbayu on May 28th and 29th from 10am to 5pm, take a look at the newly created showrooms and take part in one of the fun activities offered on Happy Family Day with your loved ones.
