Feeder Bus Dilemma along LRT Lines

The Kelana Jaya and Sri Petaling LRT Lines finally started operating yesterday as scheduled. Many residents turned out at the station to experiment the new routes, which were more convenient than driving in a jam-packed road.

The residents were thrilled as these rides are more affordable and less time consuming as compared to driving on their own.

As of yesterday, 13 new stations along the Kelana Jaya line and two stations from the Sri Petaling line began operating. This involves LRT stations namely Lembah Subang, Ara Damansara, Glenmarie, Subang Jaya, SS15, SS18, USJ7, Taipan, Wawasan, USJ21, Alam Megah, Subang Alam and Putra Heights in Kelana Jaya line, as well as Puchong Prima and Puchong Perdana stations along the Sri Petaling line.

Previously, there were issues raised regarding the lack of parking bays in the LRT stations. To curb this and to prevent congestion at the LRT stations, RapidKL is now offering 20 feeder buses to the LRT stations starting from 30th June.

See table below for the RapidKL bus routes:

The recent commencement of the bus services has created confusion for Subang Jaya and Shah Alam residents as the usual bus routes and numbers were changed suddenly without prior notification. It is said that some of the residents who take buses on a daily basis were unaware of the change and waited for the bus that didn’t turn-up.

The residents were quite frustrated with the route and number change that was not communicated to them properly.

Meanwhile, the residents of SS19 complained that the feeder buses are insufficient and almost 2,000 houses in the area are not connected to the LRT stations. Most of the residents here are students who prefer taking LRT to commute.

“We were looking forward to the commencement of the LRT stations and the lack of feeder buses makes our life difficult. There are no parking available in the Subang LRT station and there are no feeder busses available as well,” said one of the frustrated residents.
