The Summit USJ Mall is expected to breathe life into Subang Jaya with its new refurbished look. The shoppers in Subang Jaya are quite thrilled as the mall will also feature more retailers compared to before.

The mall is undergoing an extensive renovation worth RM70.48 million for the past two years, which is scheduled to be completed by September 2016 and launched by December 2016.

The refurbishment includes major upgrades such as glass exterior facades that light up at night, the extension of the main facade to allow for additional retail space as well as the upgrading of the flooring, ceilings, pillars, balustrade and railings in the common areas.

Meanwhile, the mall has also switched to LED lighting in order to be environment friendly. Besides that, new escalators, CCTVs and travellators are among the upgrades that were included.

The mall was originally opened in the year 1999, and no major refurbishment was performed on the mall until now. Even though the mall was attracting a good number of shoppers, yet it was lacking important facilities and was deemed to be outdated. To make things worse, several new malls were also opened in the vicinity.

So the upgrades were a necessary move to keep the mall in trend, as well as to cater for the millennials as there are almost 10 universities and colleges within a short distance.

Major refurbishment was also done to the Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) located on the fourth floor. The cinema hall will see an additional 20% legroom, followed by the Dolby Atmos audio technology to provide an immersive 360-degree movie viewing experience.
