I am from Perak and I moved to Selangor in the year 1997 due to my work. I rented a house and settled down in Selangor itself. Along the way, I got married and started my own family.
It was in the year 2015, when I finally decided to purchase my first home. After searching for a suitable home, I found a double-storey link house in Bandar Mahkota Cheras. I loved everything about the house and decided to purchase it.
It was a newly completed home. However, I was purchasing it from its first owner and not the developer, who is without a doubt a devil in disguise.
The owner raised the price without any consideration and demanded me to pay additional RM40,000 under the table, giving delay in releasing loan amount as an excuse. I felt cheated and unable to do anything that time, as I have already committed to the house and unable to withdraw. The fault lies on my part as well as I didn’t do a proper survey on the price before committing.
As for my loan, Public Bank rejected my application due to insufficient documents. But Bank Rakyat approved my loan for the amount of RM340,000, which reached up to RM710,000 with interest. Now my monthly payment is RM2,600 per month.
I learned my lesson the hard way! Buying a property straight from developer is better compared to acquiring a home from a speculator who only eyes for money.
