Kajang's Latest Flyover Will Benefit 50,000 Residents

19 Jul 2017

A newly completed flyover spanning 4.5 kilometres is set to open in Kajang on Thursday (20 July), benefitting approximately 50,000 residents, reported The Star.

Constructed as an alternate road to improve traffic flow, the flyover will connect Bandar Baru Bangi with Kajang 2 and Bandar Teknologi Kajang. Motorists can also use it to travel from Bandar Baru Bangi to Nadayu 92, Tropicana Heights and the Kajang 2 Komuter station.

“The flyover will reduce travel time and save costs for residents as it is toll free,” said Selangor Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The RM62 million flyover took 27 months to complete and was jointly funded by MKH, Astorian, Regal Form, Tanming Indah, Sim See Hua Group, Cheras Hong Soon Development and Tropicana Kajang Hill.

According to MKH Deputy Managing Director Datuk Ben Chen, the flyover will also improve access in areas surrounding Kajang, Semenyih and Bandar Baru Bangi.

Besides the construction of the four-lane flyover, the project also involved upgrading the Persiaran Bangi and Jalan Reko flyover as well as the widening of Sungai Langat bridge in Persiaran Bangi.

Following the completion of the flyover, Azmin Ali revealed that they plan to build residential developments in the area via a smart partnership with the aforementioned seven home builders.

Hulu Langat district is experiencing a growth in developments, which the Selangor government is overseeing to continue providing infrastructure that is efficient, effective and conducive to support such developments.”

Meanwhile, he noted that the state government’s operational cost and development expenditure respectively increased to 48 percent and 52 percent this year. In comparison, the development expenditure of the Federal Territories Ministry only stands at 18 percent.

“Three years ago, the state government made efforts to increase development expenditure and reduce operational and management cost.”
