Soaring Value of Malay Reserve Land with PR1MA Projects

18 Aug 2017

PR1MA Corp Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Mutalib Alias had expressed hope that PR1MA would be offered the chance to develop the many more strategically situated Malay reserve land available nationwide, reported Bernama.

“This will not only increase its value but also create and stimulate economic activities, hence contributing towards empowering the bumiputra agenda,” he said following a meeting with Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and PR1MA’s bumiputra partners.

In fact, the real estate values of Malay reserve land on which 61 1Malaysia People’s Housing (PR1MA) projects are built rose by over 10 times to RM13 billion from RM1.2 billion.

He noted that such projects featured 53,062 housing units nationwide.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister revealed that PR1MA has awarded over RM15 billion worth of contracts to 574 bumiputra firms for construction works, consultations and other support services.

According to Abdul Mutalib, PR1MA is committed to offering equal opportunities to bumiputra firms via the Vendor Development Programme to help them grow in the construction and real estate sectors.

PR1MA had awarded more than RM22.4 billion worth of construction-related contracts to its business partners, comprising contractors, developers and vendors, he said.

“The bumiputra portion of the construction works alone accounts for 62 percent or RM12 billion of the contract value given out by PR1MA.”

To date, PR1MA Corp had approved the development of 267,902 housing units, of which 139,393 are in various stages of construction.

Abdul Mutalib added that PR1MA had sold 9,791 PR1MA units for a total sales value of RM2.36 billion. Meanwhile, 166,972 of the over 1.47 million people who have registered with the programme have applied to acquire the housing units.
