With the aim of building 5,000 affordable homes nationwide, Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), via its subsidiary PNB Value Homes Sdn Bhd, has identified Port Dickson as the location of its pioneering housing project, reported Bernama.

“The second project will be built in Pedas, Negri Sembilan, while the third in Telok Datok, Banting, Selangor. The housing projects in the three locations will contain 2,000 units, which means we will build 2,000 units first and the remaining 3,000 units will be developed later,” said Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, Group Chairman of PNB, following the launch of the company’s first affordable housing project in Bagan Pinang.

“Currently, we are looking for suitable land in the states to build the remaining 3,000 units. The construction of the houses is in line with the aim of the government to provide more affordable homes for the people.”

Set to be completed in June 2020, works at the Port Dickson affordable housing project would commence in June.

Abdul Wahid noted that the affordable homes would be a landed residential property with an area of around 900 to 1,000 sq ft.

A total of 140 single storey terrace home units will be priced between RM180,000 and RM200,000, depending on the land size.

Application for the affordable homes are open to Malaysians who are either married or single parents and 21 years of age during the application, said Abdul Wahid.

“The income of the Individual or household making the application must not exceed RM5,000 a month and the applicant had not bought a home before. Application is limited to one unit per household and the moratorium is for five years,” he added.
