KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – 26 April 2018
The annual PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Malaysia), presented by Kohler, have officially announced the Winners and Highly Commended companies at the 2018 gala dinner and ceremony on Thursday (26 April 2018). Carried out at Kuala Lumpur’s InterContinental Hotel, the event was attended by 350 guests.
Led by a team of highly respected experts from the real estate, design, consultancy and related sectors, the independent judging panel was led by Prem Kumar, executive director of Jones Lang Wootton.
Bagging the year’s top honours for 2018’s Asia Property Awards was LBS Bina Group Berhad, which earned its first Best Developer title, in addition to trophies for its efforts in sustainable development and CSR (corporate social responsibility) initiatives that include supporting local educational outreach programmes and sponsoring the Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation in the last 10 years.
Other big winners of the night include OCR Group of Companies, whose unit OCR Land Holdings Sdn Bhd was named Best Boutique Developer, and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, which earned two Special Recognition for Public Facility honours for its latest projects to improve public facilities and infrastructure in the city centre.
Following that, over 20 golden trophies were presented to developers and builders in Kuala Lumpur, Klang Valley, Penang, and Iskandar Malaysia. All awardees, except one, were chosen by the independent judging panel led by Prem Kumar, executive director of Jones Lang Wootton.
The sole award that was not selected by the panel was the one presented to the managing director and CEO of UEM Sunrise Berhad. Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib, who was named the 2018 Malaysia Real Estate Personality of the Year by PropertyGuru Property Report editors for helping elevate the Malaysian real estate sector through vision, innovation and hard work.
In his keynote speech, PropertyGuru Group CEO Hari V. Krishnan, CEO congratulated this year’s winning and highly commended companies for their perseverance and innovations to produce quality projects despite the market’s ups and downs.
“All the shortlisted Malaysian developers have demonstrated ambition, quality talent, and passion. Through a rigorous, supervised judging process that sets the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) apart, we are proud to award these outstanding teams as they pursue greatness and elevate industry standards ultimately for the benefit of consumers. They are a true example of excellence in any industry, and we’re proud to stand by them,” he said.
