Approved Big-Ticket Projects In Perak To Be Reviewed

28 Aug 2018

Several previously approved big-ticket projects in Perak will be subject to review, including those in Bagan Datuk which were worth around RM6 billion, reported The Star.

“I have yet to receive information on any other projects that will be scrapped,” said Mentri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu, after visiting Asrama Darul Salam in Kampung Melayu Sungai Rapat, Ipoh.

“As far as Perak is concerned, it’s probably just some big projects in Bagan Datuk.”

However, projects that were 20 percent completed will be allowed to push through, he explained.

He made the statement in reply to questions on whether there are any other projects within the state that could be scrapped after Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad decided to cancel three major projects in a bid to reduce Malaysia’s national debt.

In January last year, Bagan Datuk was declared a full district in Perak.

The then Barisan Nasional government also announced various projects there which involve billions of ringgit.
