Gagasan Nadi Cergas To Embark On Its Biggest Construction Project

Gagasan Nadi Cergas Bhd is set to build its largest-ever construction project, comprising 4,319 affordable housing units under the Rumah Idaman programme.

Wan Azman Wan Kamal, Group Managing Director of Gagasan Nadi Cergas, expects the RM777 million project to positively contribute to the group for the financial years ending 31 December 2021 to 2027, reported Bernama.

“With this new contract, our outstanding construction order book has hit an all-time high, leapfrogging to over RM1.2 billion which is estimated to be recognised over the next six years,” Bernama quoted him as saying.

He revealed that Gagasan Nadi Cergas will continue to support the call of the Selangor state government on making affordable home-ownership a reality, particularly among the B40 group.

With an overall project duration of more than six years, the Rumah Idaman houses will be constructed on 14.81ha of land across four sites. One of the sites is situated in Seksyen U8 in Shah Alam, Selangor, while the other three are located in Seksyen U17 in Shah Alam.

The group acquired the sites for RM24.7 million from Sime Darby Property Bhd.

He explained that the Rumah Idaman programme forms part of the Selangor state government’s target of building 30,000 affordable homes by 2025. It is the brainchild of Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) to provide Selangor’s B40 group with affordable housing.

Under the programme, each unit will have a built-up of 1,000 sq ft and will be furnished with a refrigerator, a television set, TV cabinet, air conditioners, kitchen cabinets, wardrobe and water heaters, he added.

The 4,319 Rumah Idaman housing units will be allocated to qualified and registered homebuyers via a balloting process conducted by the Selangor state housing regulator, Lembaga Perumahan Hartanah Selangor (LHPS).
