PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards, the region’s most prestigious real estate awards programme, revealed the shortlisted finalists for its Malaysian edition, which will mark its seventh year and first virtual gala event.
The most exemplary developers and projects in Malaysia have been selected for the 7th Annual PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Malaysia), set to be simulcast live worldwide via asiapropertyawards.com/newsroom and partner channels including the virtual red carpet and virtual gala presentation.
Around 25 major names in property development have made the shortlist for the 2020 PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Malaysia). Ideal Property Group, Fieldman Construction Sdn Bhd, KLK Land, Matrix Concepts Group, Tanah Sutera Development Sdn Bhd, Tropicana Corporation Berhad, and UMLand, among other developers of repute around the peninsula and beyond, have been shortlisted for the newly expanded Developer categories and Special Recognition Awards.
Exemplary projects such as Tropicana Grandhill by Tropicana Corporation Berhad and Sierra Heights by Kemajuan Tong Tor Sdn Bhd, as well as companies like WCT Land Sdn Bhd, meanwhile garnered multiple nominations for this year’s awards.
This year, the Awards will recognise the nation’s Best Mega Township Developer, Best Lifestyle Developer, Best Industrial Developer, and Best Affordable Homes Developer as well as the most deserving recipients of special recognitions for ESG, Sustainable Construction, Sustainable Design, and Building Communities.
The 2020 PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) also marks a milestone in the programme’s 15-year history as Sarena Cheah, managing director of Sunway Berhad’s property division, is named recipient of the Malaysia Real Estate Personality of the Year title. This will make her the first woman to ever receive the honour in Malaysia.
An independent panel of expert judges arrived at the shortlist after a rigorous, ethical, fair, transparent judging process supervised by BDO Malaysia, led by Lu Yan Fen, Director, Audit and Pang Zhi Hao, Partner.

Bhd; and Charles Tan Chia Lih, Owner of kopiandproperty blog. Meanwhile, site inspections in South Malaysia were conducted by Lim Qun Kai, Designer, Founder, The Blue Creative; Ir. Dr. Justin Lai, Managing Director of IPM Group; and Law Lee Kiau, President, Johor Interior Designer Association.
