Cheras

Cheras is a town and district, straddling both the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat District in Selangor state. Cheras is also located to the south-east of downtown Kuala Lumpur. Its is adjacent to Ampang to the north and Kajang to the south, both which are major town within the metropolitan area of Greater Kuala Lumpur. Cheras was believed to be founded in the end of 1876 and its original name was Teras as when the villagers were cutting the wood from the “Teras” tree. The reason to put “Teras” is because the wood is hard and strong. Therefore, the meaning It brings is that they want their relationship to be as strong as that. But that is the history of this wonderful place. Just as other cities, Cheras is also well developed already and it is very close to many places and has its own uniqueness.

Cheras is similar to other place when it comes to talking about transportation as this place is filled with abundant transportation facilities. If one is to travel to Kuala Lumpur city, it would take less than 15 mins to reach you destination. The same goes for travelling to Ampang it would take less than 10 mins to reach by driving. Travelling to places like Bangi would not that much time as well.If you do not have any means of your own transportation, worry not as there is always taxi drivers, bus and even mrt services in Cheras making It a safer and more eco friendly way to travel. There is also the Cheras-Kajang Expressway connecting Cheras to its neighbouring suburbs and cities.

Cheras is also a family friendly place as there many places to get the basic necessities such as house groceries and things that you need for you daily life. Some of them are Sekolah Menangah Cheras, Oasis International School, Cempaka National School, Sri Sempurna International School, Sekolah Menengah Teknik Kuala Lumpur and Sekolah Menengah Sains Alam Shah.

One of the biggest attractions of Cheras is the longest night bazaar in the whole of Malaysia which is located in Taman Connaught. Other than that, there are also a lot of entertainment and shopping malls in Cheras. For those who love to go shopping or even window shopping, visiting the EkoCheras Mall will be a good idea as this place is filled with a variety of clothing brands such as H&M, Voir, DeFacto, etc. Making it a very attractive place to go and shop. There is another mall with many facilities as well and this malls name is Leisure Mall also in Cheras, for those who wish to catch a movie with their family, partner of even alone they may visit Leisure Mall as there is a Cinema there.

Not forgetting that one of the biggest draws for Cheras that could make it a very good attraction is that this place was a host of the SEA Games of 1995 and there boasts an impressive array of sports complexes, most notably the Tun Razak Football Stadium. This makes it a place where every Malaysian would be proud as we hosted one of the biggest games in our home country and that it was in Cheras making it even better for those living there.
