The Private Affordable Ownership Housing Scheme (MyHome) project in Bukit Jalil, which is expected to be ready by 2018, will benefit around 508 home owners.
According to National Housing Department’s Director-General Datuk Mohamad Yusoff Ghazali, this is the maiden MyHome development in the federal territory. It consists of 508 apartments measuring 850 sq ft each.
The project is scheduled to be finished within 36 months and it is currently 10 percent complete, he said, adding that they have received over 8,500 applications from federal territory residents.
Moreover, people who have successfully applied for a unit at the MyHome project in Bukit Jalil expressed their gratitude to the government for helping them acquire a roof above their heads.
38-year-old civil servant Syed Ahmed Hafiz Syed Abdul Rahman excitedly told reporters that he no longer has to lease a house any more.
“The scheme is very good for those who do not have their own houses, especially for people with families like me,” he said after the launch and balloting for the MyHome 2 Impiana Sky Residensi Bukit Jalil project on Sunday.
Nurlisa Abdullah, a 37-year-old executive in a private firm, was also glad that her application to buy a MyHome unit was approved in just two years.
“I was even happier when I came out among the top ten in the balloting, so we are free to choose the units we want,” she added.
Under the MyHome scheme, the government will provide a subsidy of RM30,000, while the buyer must get a bank loan of RM270,000 to purchase a home with a total price of RM300,000.
