Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) announced on Thursday (12 May) the successful bidders for four work package contracts for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line (SSP Line).

With a combined value of over RM4 billion, these consisted of two systems work packages and two for building viaducts.

In particular, HAP Consortium bagged the RM1.62 billion systems work package SY203 for the engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of electric trains and depot equipment for the rail line.

A joint venture, comprising Bombardier (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Global Rail Sdn Bhd, clinched the second systems work package valued at RM458.02 million for the engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the signalling and train control system.

IJM Construction Sdn Bhd also secured the RM1.47 billion work package for the construction of the 4.6km viaduct gateway and other related works from Jinjang to Jalan Ipoh North Portal.

Finally, Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd got the RM648 million work package for building the 2.6km viaduct guideway and other associated works from Persiaran APEC in Cyberjaya to Putrajaya Sentral.

According to MRT Corp’s Chief Executive, the winning companies were selected based on the best technical and commercial aspects of their bids. This means the announced firms did not necessarily offer the lowest price.
