According to MRT Corp operations and asset management director Mahmood Razak, a total of 8,000 parking bays is about to be opened in the 14 Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) stations along the Sungai Buloh and Kajang (SBK) line.

The multi-storey park and ride facilities and open space parking will be available in both phases of the Sungai Buloh -Kajang (SBK) Line. The multi-storey parking bays can house about 200 to 600 cars, while the open space parking can accommodate approximately 100 cars at a time.

Meanwhile, MRT commuters and casual parkers will be charged a different parking rate as to encourage the public to park their cars and commute via MRT. The integrated cashless payment system (ICPS) such as the Touch N Go, will be implemented once the parking bays are ready.

Among the stations that will have the park and ride facilities are Sungai Buloh, Kwasa Damansara, Kwasa Sentral, Bandar Utama, Phileo Damansara, Pusat Bandar Damansara, Maluri, Taman Midah, Taman Suntex, Sri Raya, Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Bukit Duking, Sungai Jernih and Kajang.

Currently, the construction of Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT Line is nearing completion and the systems are undergoing testing. The line between Sungai Buloh and Semantan is expected to be operational by December 2016, while the second phase will take another year to complete.
