Pasir Gudang is poised to be the next upcoming vicinity in Johor as Mah Sing Group is planning their largest township development on a 531.3ha land here.
The development dubbed Meridin East will be situated in the eastern zone of Iskandar Malaysia, offering an integrated mixed development with an estimated gross development value of RM5 billion. This will be categorized under Flagship Zone D of Iskandar Malaysia.
Mah Sing Group senior chief operating officer James A. Bruyns noted that Pasir Gudang offers vast potential; and since the western side of Iskandar Malaysia is well developed, now it’s time to shift the focus to the eastern side.
The township will be developed in five phases and is expected to be completed within the next 15 years. The currently ongoing phase one will be completed in the first quarter of 2018.
Besides that, there are also plans to develop a ferry terminal at Kong Kong, Pasir Gudang and Changi, Singapore. This is to provide an alternative route for commuters who travel from Johor to Singapore and vice versa. This terminal will offer ferry transportation coupled with water taxi services.
According to Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin, this plan will further ease congestion along the Causeway and Second Link, followed by the upcoming Kuala Lumpur – Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project which will further enhance the networking in Johor.
