Easy Access to Highways to Major City Destinations and Beyond

23 Sept 2016

Besides its unparalleled intracity, intercity and global connectivity with direct links to the KL International Airport via several major rail lines, Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD is also accessible via key roads and highways.

1. Jalan Bangsar

A major road in Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Bangsar is a short distance to the crowd-pleasing Jalan Telawi area. The affluent Bangsar locality, which is a popular restaurant and clubbing place, is just a five-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD and neighbouring Brickfields. There are also shopping centres and banks in Bangsar while Pantai Medical Centre and Universiti Malaya Medical Centre are only a few kilometres away.

2. Jalan Tun Sambanthan

This is the main thoroughfare along which Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD and Brickfields are situated opposite each other. It leads to Downtown Kuala Lumpur where Petaling Street/Chinatown, Central Market, Merdeka Square, Sultan Abdul Samad Building and Selangor Club are. Along Jalan Tun Sambanthan are landmarks including the 100-year-old YMCA and Vivekananda Ashram. It connects motorists to Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD, Dayabumi and Jalan Bangsar.

3. Lebuhraya Mahameru

It is part of the Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 1. If you are coming from the west, from the Federal Highway take the first turn to the left towards Jalan Parlimen, then proceed straight and take the next left to Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD. If you are coming from the north, from the North-South Expressway (NSE) exit at Jalan Duta Toll Plaza, then proceed to Jalan Kuching and Lebuhraya Mahameru. From here, turn in to Jalan Bangsar and Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD.

4. New Pantai Expressway

It begins at Jalan Bangsar within KL Sentral and passes through Jalan Pantai Baru, Pantai Dalam, Jalan Kuchai Lama, Jalan Klang Lama, Bandar Sunway and ends at Subang Jaya. Jalan Bangsar is a short drive from Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD.

5. Federal Highway

Most of the major roads in Malaysia service Kuala Lumpur, which is about half way on the NSE, which exits for the city at Jalan Duta from the north and Sungai Besi from the south. If you are driving from the Federal Highway to Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD, please also refer to item (3), Lebuhraya Mahameru.

6. Jalan Damansara

This is a major road in the city and a pioneer road of the Damansara-Puchong Expressway and Damansara Link of the Sprint Expressway. Its primary destinations in addition to Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD are the exclusive Federal Hill nearby, Bandar Utama, Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Damansara Heights.

7. Jalan Istana

This road is near to Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD. The most prominent landmark here is the Royal Museum, formerly the Istana Negara and former home of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

8. Jalan Syed Putra

This major highway is now connected to Jalan Tun Sambanthan through various roads. Previously, it was connected via only a bridge across the Klang River which runs along it. Wisma Tun Sambanthan sits at the head of the highway while Mid Valley Megamall sits at the end of it. Landmarks include Kuen Cheng Girls School (a top school in the country) situated next to the Royal Museum, and the Yuen Tong Chee Temple.

KL Sentral is a rare development that enjoys convenient accessibility to every one of these highways and trunk roads. While new developments here are coming to an end, there is still just one more rare gem.
