My first attempt to buy a house was in the year June 2015. I saw a landed property in the heart of Bukit Rahman Putra, Sungai Buloh. It was quite convenient for me as the booking fee was only RM1,000, with zero deposit.

The property was located right next to my primary school, a place which I was very familiar with. There were also ample of amenities scattered around the area. However, my loan was rejected due to my high commitments.

Then I lost hope in buying my first home. One year passed and I have settled my PTPTN debt and paid off my credit cards.

At the same time, I noticed many of my friends have already purchased their first home. This urged me to try my luck again, as I was already fed-up of paying rental for over seven years. Besides that, the property prices kept on increasing day by day and I was worried that I can’t afford it later, if I keep on waiting.

Thus, I started hunting for the properties. I browsed through prominent property portal like PropertyGuru and social media like Facebook. That’s when I came across an advertisement for Desa Country Homes, Rawang.

There were only a few units left, which was released after the buyers fail to get mortgage loans. But the booking fee was RM3,000 and I didn’t have the sufficient fund even to pay for the booking. It was the first week of Hari Raya and I had so many expenses. Yet, I still decided to visit the sales gallery with my wife.

Once I visited the sales gallery, the sales person showed me the layout and design. I immediately fell in love with the unit. I was also glad that the unit number 39 was available, which is my favourite number.

Moreover, the booking fee was only RM3,000, plus with a discount of RM33,000 for the deposit. But, then I told the sales person that I will confirm back soon and left. As I was leaving the place, I took a moment to sit in my car and think things through. I checked the available fund in my bank and it was sufficient for the booking.

Without further delay, I went back and placed my booking. Then came the nerve-wracking part. I applied for the mortgage loan again. Luckily, my loan was approved. I felt like the happiest man on earth! Now I’m waiting for EPF transfer from Account 2 to pay for the legal and other fees. I’m glad that I’ve decided to try again without giving up after my first attempt!
