The authorities will announce the Project Delivery Partner (PDP) by early-2018 for the High-Speed Rail (HSR) project connecting Singapore with Kuala Lumpur.
The tender for this will close on 31 January 2018 and the winner will be named thereafter, revealed MyHSR Corp Commercial Director Tonny Yeap.
“Right now, we are still open for expressions of interest by companies in the tender, so the numbers (of bidders) are still changing,” he said on Thursday (7 December).
“We are open to both local and foreign consortiums. What’s important is that the companies coming forward should and must have railway experience in Malaysia, alongside expertise in high-speed rail.”
Notably, MyHSR Corporation launched the PDP tender for the HSR project on 22 November. The winning company will be responsible for crafting the rail network’s detailed infrastructure design, including the stations and other relevant structures in Malaysia. It is also tasked to build these while following a budget and schedule.
Asked on whether the mega project’s proposed alignment has already been agreed upon, Project Delivery Director Mark Loader said the plans are being showcased to the public since 1 November after it was submitted to the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).
“At the end of the exhibition, we will gather the feedback from the public and address them, before going back to SPAD for our proposed final alignment. It will take us maybe one or two months to review all the comments and resubmit to SPAD our version of the railway scheme for final approval.”
“By the end of the first quarter next year, we will submit our final proposal and, assuming it is approved by SPAD, the alignment will then be fixed,” he added.
