While leasehold property owners in Negri Sembilan can now have their titles converted to freehold, priority will be given to owners whose titles are nearing expiry, reported The Star.
This comes after the Federal authorities has said that such properties can be converted to freehold status based on the National Land Code’s provisions, said Mentri Besar Aminuddin Harun.
He revealed that the Land and Mines director-general has told him that the state government only has to submit an application to the Federal Government.
With this, Aminuddin administration has decided that an individual who owns “more than one leasehold property can only apply to convert one to freehold status”.

“His other properties will remain leasehold,” said Aminuddin after opening a Xiang Qi (Chinese chess) tournament at SM Agama Haji Mohd Said in Seremban.
Prior to the May general elections, the state Pakatan Harapan pledged to convert leasehold properties to freehold once elected to power.
Aminuddin shared that he was glad the pledge would soon be realized.
