Sime Darby Property Bhd announced on Monday (23 July) that it has appointed Tan Sri Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz as its first female Board Chairman. She replaced Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Abdul Wahid Omar who resigned from the board on 30 June.
Dr. Zeti holds prestigious credentials and has a wealth of experience. Aside from being a member of the Council of Eminent Persons, which has been formed to advise the new federal government on important matters, she is currently the Group Chairman of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).
She was also the 7th Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) from 2000 to 2016.
She graduated from the University of Malaya with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics, and obtained a PhD with a specialisation on Monetary and International Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in the US.
“We are honoured and pleased to welcome Dr. Zeti to the board of Sime Darby Property,” said the real estate developer’s Group Managing Director Amrin Awaluddin.
“Her presence reaffirms PNB’s commitment to Sime Darby Property and our transformation journey. We look forward to work under the Chairmanship of Tan Sri Dr. Zeti in moving the company forward and to deliver value to our stakeholders.”
Meanwhile, Sime Darby Property named Datin Norazah Mohamed Razali as the new Chairman of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee (NRC).
Datin Norazah, who is presently one of the firm’s Independent Non-Executive Directors, assumed the role of Datuk Rohana Tan Sri Mahmood, who resigned on 30 June.
