Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad revealed that the report by the special task force on Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) controversial land deals involving 64 parcels of land have been handed over to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad before he left for a five-day visit to China, reported The Star.
“I submitted the report yesterday (Aug 17) before Dr Mahathir’s visit to China, and he will decide when he returns,” he said after the launch and handover of keys to residents of Sky Awani Residence.
Comprising representatives from the ministry, DBKL and individuals picked by Khalid himself, the task force had completed their investigations on the deals and provided recommendations on how each deal should be handled.
“Some of the recommendations include scrapping agreements and refunding sellers, while some deals can continue or be improved,” said Khalid.
He clarified that the investigations conducted by the task forces did not involve the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), which will have their own probe on the matter.
“MACC investigations focus on whether corruption is involved,” he explained.
Between 2013 and 2018, DBKL sold 64 plots of land involving about 170ha and valued at RM4.28 billion without open tender.
