Single individuals within the B40 group in Kuala Lumpur now have more reason to cheer as Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) unveiled plans to rent out rooms to such individuals from as low as RM100 per month.
The move is aimed at helping low-income unmarried individuals who are finding it hard to rent a room within the federal capital, reported Bernama.
Slated to start this year, the micro-housing scheme will see DBKL implementing a concept of capsule hotel.
Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan revealed that they have identified an old DBKL building in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman that will be modified into two blocks – one of which will be for women and the other for men with 120 rooms each.
“The two-block building can accommodate up to 200 occupants and they only need to pay rent as low as RM100,” he explained.
The occupants, however, are not allowed to cook within the building, said Nor Hisham.
