In a bid to accelerate the construction sector’s growth which was hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is offering property developers up to 50% discount in development charges.
Developers can submit their applications for projects starting between 1 June this year and 31 May 2021, said Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa as quoted by Bernama.
He revealed that the ministry hopes the initiative would ease the burden of developers affected by the pandemic, while enabling work on suspended projects to resume as soon as possible.

“The ministry also agrees with DBKL’s effort to reduce the processing time for approval of applications for Development Order, Development Plan and Engineering Plan,” he said during an engagement session with developers.
“This will make DBKL’s services more efficient, as well as reduce the holding cost for developers,” he said.
So far, DBKL had approved 36 applications for development projects worth RM35.9 billion, said Annuar.
He also urged developers to organise corporate social responsibility programmes as well as hire young graduates to help lower Malaysia’s unemployment rate.
